Series of the Week: Charmed

If you’re fans of Supernatural or Buffy the Vampire Slayer then you’ll definitely love Charmed.

Charmed took place in San Francisco, CA, and it followed three sisters by the names of Prue, Piper and Phoebe. They seem like your typical set of sisters. You have the smart one (Prue), the practical one (Piper) and the crazy one (Phoebe). They all even had adequate jobs and fulfilling love lives. The only issue was that they’re the most powerful witches in the supernatural world. As they became more well-known in the supernatural world, they earned nicknames like the Charmed Ones and the Power of Three.

Since they were the most powerful witches in the Supernatural realm, they were granted the responsibility of protecting the all powerful Book of Shadows. The Book of Shadows was equipped to vanquish demons of the supernatural realm. It had spells and recipes to improve (or ruin) everyday lives but most importantly to vanquish demons. Demons, nonetheless, frequently targeted The Book of Shadows.

Demons believed that if they owned the Book of Shadows then no witches would have the necessary information to vanquish them. It sounded like a good idea except the Charmed Ones were no joke when brought into battle. Prue had the power of telekinesis, Piper had the power to freeze time, and Phoebe had the power of premonition.  With such balanced powers, nothing could go wrong for them right? Demons were much smarter than they anticipated though.

Different demons meant different tactics. Some demons wore the mask of a human while others were upfront about their ill intentions as a demon. No matter who the demon was though, their governing principle of protecting the innocents still remained. So watch the Charmed Ones as they take on battles in the human realm as well as the supernatural realm, it will be a how you wouldn’t want to miss.

All eight seasons are currently available on Netflix, and I haven’t met one person who has disliked Charmed so give it a try. Until next time…
