Movie of the Week: Kim Possible So the Drama

Disney knew a TV show wasn’t enough for the Kim Possible franchise.

Kim Possible: So the Drama  is the second movie for the Kim Possible series, and usually sequels don’t live up to the first movie. This movie, however, lived up to expectations.

It follows the famous teen hero and head cheerleader Kim Possible and her sidekick Ron Stoppable. The movie starts off in Japan where Kim is saving famous toy designer Mr. Nakasumi from the evil Dr. Drakken and Shego.

Drakken and Shego are the regular villains from the Kim Possible series, and usually Kim and Ron foil their evil plans. Drakken and Shego, nonetheless, take a different approach to take over the world despite Kim Possible.

After saving Mr. Nakasumi, Kim and Ron return back to Middleton High to deal with typical teenage problems. The problem this time involves prom. Even though Kim was the head cheerleader, she didn’t have a boyfriend and by default no prom date.

She lets the school Bonnie bully her into thinking she’ll be forever alone. Her mindset changes when she meets the lovely Eric though. Eric met Ron first, but once he saw Kim, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Eric seems like the perfect guy, so Kim develops a serious crush on him.

Sooner or later, Eric and Kim start dating, and Ron unconsciously turns into a third wheel. On top of being a third wheel, Ron discovers that Bueno Nacho, his favorite fast food restaurant, changed management. Because of their management change though, the menu and specials for Bueno Nacho change as well.

This much negativity for Ron becomes unbearable, but when Kim needs contacts him about Dr. Drakken kidnapping her super genius father, he’s there for her in a flash. When they save her father though, they discover that Drakken temporarily wiped some of his memory. They think nothing of it though because her dad returns to normal.

Interestingly enough, the Nakasumi incident, the kidnapping of Kim’s dad the change of management for Bueno Nacho and much more are all parts of a bigger master plan for world dominance.

This film is such a great watch because it expands and continues the story line from the TV series. It includes every main and supporting character from the series which doesn’t always happen in Disney Channel movies spun off TV series. This movie also remixes the shoes theme song as well as debut a new super suit for Kim.

This movie basically takes all that is  great about the Kim Possible TV show and makes it better in my opinion.

Kim Possible: So the Drama is available on Hulu for a limited time, so check out this wonderful Disney Channel Original Movie as soon as possible. Until next time though…

  1. I absolutely love all things Kim Possible (including this movie)! My dream as a little kid was the be her and I even took it as far as buying a Kim Possible wig for Halloween and I ended up wearing it long after Halloween was over (I was a weird 8 year old). Awkward childhood story aside I had no idea this movie was an hulu and am going to watch it asap!
